CARTEK X-PRO electronic safety switch (red switch)

CARTEK safety switches are designed to perform two essential functions under FIA standards: stopping the engine and isolating the battery from all electrical systems. To achieve this, they first interrupt power to the ECU or ignition circuit, stopping the engine and power generation by the alternator/generator. They then isolate the battery’s negative terminal from the chassis/earth, disconnecting the battery from all the vehicle’s electrical systems. With built-in load-dump protection, no additional components are required. Voltage range: 7V to 18V. Consumption: 7mA (OFF) and 50mA (ON).

What are the different CARTEK electronic safety switch models?

All CARTEK switches are fully electronic, with no moving parts, and hermetically sealed for optimum protection against water and dirt. Designed to withstand shocks and vibrations, they incorporate an alternator de-excitation circuit and allow direct operation via a single ON-OFF switch or external buttons. Their thin, lightweight wiring (70g to 120g) facilitates installation, while mounting near the battery reduces connection lengths. Complying with FIA standards, they are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom using latest-generation, high-quality components.

4 models available:

• GT model: Suitable for almost all racing and rally car applications. Includes 600A battery isolation and a fully protected 30A power output for connection to the ECU, ignition or fuel system.
• XR model: More compact and lighter than the GT unit, it is designed specifically to connect to ECU modules (PDM or PCM). Supplied with a sealed connection cable.
• X-Pro model: Designed to handle the high starting currents of large-displacement, high-power racing engines. Configurable engine shutdown output (5A 20A selectable). Signal connections via a sealed DT Deutsch connector.
• X-Club model: Suitable for medium-power cars and engines up to 3.0L V6, turbocharged or naturally aspirated. Ideal for one-make championships with standard engines, for example Audi TT, Civic Type R, MX5, Clio, Mini, etc. Fully protected 10A power output for connection to ignition coils, the engine relay or ECU/PDM input.
