260/640/17 tyre Yokohama A005

Product introduction

The Yokohama A005 tyre in size 260/640/17 is a circuit slick intended for competition use on dry tracks. Designed to offer a high level of grip, precision and consistency, it is aimed at drivers looking for high-performance equipment for intensive driving, private testing, advanced trackdays or motorsport events.

Purpose of the part

The slick tyre ensures direct contact between the vehicle and the track. Unlike a sculpted tyre, its smooth tread maximizes the contact surface on the ground in order to improve traction, braking, cornering stability and steering precision on dry surfaces. The Hard/Medium compound allows you to find a balance between performance, resistance to wear and consistency over several sessions.

Signs or consequences of a worn or defective tyre

• Loss of grip when accelerating, braking or supporting.
• Extension of braking distances on dry tracks.
• Unstable or imprecise behavior when entering and exiting turns.
• Irregular wear linked to poor geometry, pressure or temperature adjustment.
• Decrease in performance over the laps with overheating or degradation of the compound.
• Increased risk of delamination, puncture or loss of control if the tyre is too worn or damaged.

Benefits of replacement

• Restoration of optimal grip on a dry circuit.
• Better consistency of times thanks to a compound adapted to track use.
• Increased precision of the front axle or improvement of traction depending on the assembly.
• More stable behavior when braking and prolonged braking.
• More efficient use of chassis, suspension and geometry settings.
• Reinforced security during intensive sessions or in competition.
