RENAULT developed the RN0720 standard for oils capable of withstanding the most demanding thermal conditions while remaining compatible with modern after-treatment systems. Its formula with low levels of sulphated ash, sulphur and phosphorus (Low SAPS) extends the life of emissions control mechanisms such as the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Thanks to its 100% synthetic composition, this oil offers excellent thermal stability and exceptional resistance to high temperatures. It prevents deposits and sludge from forming, keeping the engine clean and preventing piston ring sticking. It provides maximum protection and maintains its performance even under extreme operating conditions. Its low volatility reduces oil consumption, and its exceptional oxidation resistance allows the manufacturer’s recommended oil change intervals to be extended. It fully meets demanding performance and durability requirements, validated by the Renault Long Life test (LLR). The RN0720 standard applies to all RENAULT Diesel engines with a DPF (except 2,2L dCi with DPF), as well as RENAULT Laguna III 1,5L dCi models without DPF manufactured before October 2008 and Kangoo II 1,5L dCi models without DPF manufactured before June 2008. Based on the Renault RN0720 standard, the MERCEDES-BENZ MB 226.51 specification requires engine lubricants capable of withstanding severe thermal conditions and compatible with modern after-treatment systems. The MB 226.51 standard applies to all Renault-origin Diesel engines with DPF fitted to MERCEDES vehicles requiring this standard.
