Technical information: Mechanical friction generates heat that the oil must dissipate. A 30% increase in engine power results in 3% more heat to be removed. The higher the engine speed, the greater the friction. The ideal operating temperature is between 90 and 115 degrees. Any deviation, whether lower or higher, can impair engine efficiency and service life. Above 130 degrees, the oil quickly loses its lubricating effectiveness. A simple solution is to install an oil cooler, which also increases oil capacity.
