CARTEK GT electronic safety isolator (red button)

CARTEK safety isolators are designed to fulfil two essential roles under FIA standards: stopping the engine and isolating the battery from all electrical circuits. To do this, they first interrupt power to the ECU or ignition system, stopping the engine and energy production by the alternator/generator. They then disconnect the battery’s negative pole from the chassis, isolating the battery from all the vehicle’s electrical systems. Built-in surge protection means no additional component is required. They operate at a voltage of 7V to 18V, consuming 7mA (OFF) and 50mA (ON).

What are the different CARTEK electronic safety isolator models?

All CARTEK safety isolators are fully electronic, with no moving parts, and hermetically sealed for maximum protection against water and dirt. Designed to withstand shocks and vibrations, they incorporate an alternator shutdown circuit and allow direct operation via a single ON/OFF switch or external buttons. Their thin, lightweight wiring (70g to 120g) simplifies installation, and mounting them close to the battery reduces connection lengths. Compliant with FIA regulations, they are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom using high-quality, latest-generation components.

Four models are available:

• GT model: Suitable for almost all racing and rally car applications. Includes 600A battery isolation and a fully protected 30A power output for connection to the ECU, ignition or fuel system.
• XR model: More compact and lighter than the GT unit, designed specifically to connect to ECU modules (PDM or PCM). Supplied with a sealed connecting wire.
• X-Pro model: Designed to handle the high starting currents of large-capacity, high-power racing engines. Configurable engine shutdown output (5A 20A selectable). Signal connections via a sealed DT Deutsch connector.
• X-Club model: Suitable for medium-power cars and engines up to 3.0L V6, turbocharged or NA. Ideal for single-make championships with standard engines, for example Audi TT, Civic Type R, MX5, Clio, Mini, etc. Fully protected 10A power output for connection to ignition coils, the engine relay or the ECU/PDM input.
