For optimum results, position the sound level meter one metre from the sound source. Unlike smartphone sound measurement apps, which interpret the microphone’s electrical signal and are often regarded as gadgets, our professional sound level meter ensures accurate measurements through a high-quality electrostatic microphone, calibrated according to international standards (e.g. IEC 61672). It covers a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with an extended dynamic range from 30 dB to 130 dB.

Mobile apps, limited by the quality of phones' built-in microphones, cannot accurately measure extreme sound levels. Their lack of adequate calibration and restricted frequency range distort the results, particularly for very high- or low-pitched sounds.
