The “blow-off valve” is an essential component for managing your engine’s boost. When your turbo is running at full speed, it generates boost that it cannot stop instantly, as the intake system is still saturated with pressurised air. With nowhere to escape, this pressure is sent back into the compressor, which can cause the wheel’s direction of rotation to reverse, resulting in excessive pressure harmful to the compressor.

The blow-off valve mounts on the intake pipe and features a spring-loaded diaphragm or piston. This rises as soon as an increase in pressure is detected. By releasing the air in a fraction of a second, you can change gear and boost resumes almost without interruption, guaranteeing optimum engine performance.
