Product: FORGE atmospheric dump valve for SUBARU Impreza after 2000
Discover the FORGE atmospheric dump valve, specially designed for the post-2000 SUBARU Impreza with intercooler mounting. But what does a dump valve actually do, and how does it work?
The dump valve, also known as a “blow-off valve”, plays a crucial role in managing your engine’s boost. When your turbo is running at full speed to supply boost, it cannot stop or slow down abruptly, as compressed air still remains in the intake system. With no escape route, this pressure is sent back towards the compressor, trying to turn the turbine in the opposite direction, which could cause damage.
Installed on the intake pipe, the dump valve contains a spring-loaded diaphragm or a piston that lifts as soon as a pressure increase is detected. By releasing the air in a fraction of a second, it enables smooth gear changes and a rapid return of boost, with virtually no interruption!
