280/680/18 tyre Yokohama A005

Product introduction

The Yokohama A005 in size 280/680/18 is a circuit slick tyre designed for motorsport use on dry tracks. Developed to offer high grip and precision, it is aimed at drivers seeking consistent performance during intensive track driving, private testing, advanced track days or competition.

Part function

The slick tyre provides the direct link between vehicle and track. Unlike a grooved road tyre, its smooth tread maximises the contact patch to improve traction, braking, stability under cornering loads and cornering speed on dry surfaces.

Symptoms or consequences of a worn or faulty tyre

• Loss of grip under acceleration, braking or cornering loads.
• Longer track braking distances.
• Less precise front-end or rear-end handling.
• Uneven wear, scalloping, braking flat spots or rubber tearing.
• Less consistent lap times and reduced performance after several sessions.
• Increased risk of overheating, rapid deterioration or loss of control.

Benefits of replacement

• Restores optimal grip on dry tracks.
• More precise driving and more consistent feedback.
• Improved traction on corner exit.
• More effective, stable braking during heavy deceleration.
• More consistent handling over short or long stints depending on compound choice.
• Adaptation to track conditions through soft, medium or hard compounds.
